What a wonderful Christmas!! I hope you all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the new year…I know I am! Our guests, GramGram and Uncle Critter, made it to Eureka Springs safely. Luckily the winter storm came a little later than they thought it would, and missed us all together. Our guests left about noon Tuesday and had to take it slow, but made it back to Oklahoma City safely. The boys were a little bummed that we didn’t have a white Christmas. They were ready to play in the snow!! It did however get really cold and Jeremy has done an excellent job at keeping the fire going to keep us warm! (I love him!!) 🙂
Here is a picture of our dinner set up. PawPaw made it a tradition to eat dinner by candle light for the month of December. We haven’t done it all month, but I thought it would be special to do for Christmas. It was very nice and I would love to do this every year.
We had dinner Christmas Eve and it turned out better than I expected. I really enjoyed cooking and was surprised how tasty is was! After dinner was cleaned up we opened some presents, the boys had a great time. Atticus opened up a Play-Doh Magic Swirl Ice Cream Shoppe and said “I have been wanting this for years and years!!” It was so sweet. Bonus opened up what he had asked for the most and was ecstatic…Pop the Pig!!
Here they are in front of the tree! So ready to open their presents. Atticus is on the left and Bonus on the right.
Look at his sweet face. He was so thrilled that GramGram got him Pop the Pig!!
Jeremys mom made the boys these robes. Aren’t they the cutest?! I loved them so much I told her I needed one! They are so soft!! The boys look so cute in them.
Santa came the next morning and the boys got some new Wii games and a few board games. We’ve had fun playing them for the last two days. We were sad that Uncle Critter and GramGram had to leave so soon, but we really enjoyed the time we shared. It really was a great Christmas and I don’t regret spending it here in Eureka Springs one bit. It was so nice staying home and not running around house to house all day trying to see everyone. Instead we stayed home and just spent the day with our family and enjoyed Christmas together!! We loved it and I think this was one of the best Christmas’ so far. We are looking forward to traveling to Oklahoma in a week or so and having Christmas with family and friends, but before we do that, we are meeting Marley and her mom in Tulsa tomorrow so she can come stay with us!! We are so ready to see her and let her open her gifts we got her. We haven’t seen her since Thanksgiving and we miss her like crazy!! She is the coolest 12-year-old I know! Her and the boys get along so well and they LOVE when sissy is here. Keeping our fingers crossed that the roads aren’t icy and we can make the 2 and a half hour drive safely. She will be here until the 5th and then we will head to Oklahoma City and enjoy even more holiday fun. Yay!!
As I sit here in front of the fire with my husband and dog, the boys tucked into their warm bed, I am so grateful for the life I have. We had a great year and I know it’s only getting better. I am truly blessed and I never wanna take a day for granted. Thank you so much to all of you who are reading this blog right now. It really does mean a lot to me. I hope you had a great Christmas and you are enjoying your family in your warm house. Have a safe New Years!!
Thanks again. Steph Shock
P.S. My Cameo is still on track to be here Friday! I can not wait to get it!!! 🙂
I am so excited to share what I decided (well…my husband and I) to get myself for Christmas!! I JUST ORDERED A SILHOUETTE CAMEO!! Yes it’s true!! I am so thrilled! You are going to be so overloaded with crafting that I hope I will not annoy you! 😉 It’s going to be so much fun. Estimated time of delivery is Friday the 28th. The countdown begins now!!
Thanks for letting me share my excitement with you!!
I hope you all have a very merry and safe Christmas!!!
Hey guys! I feel like time is dragging by the last few days. Has it been that way for you too? Maybe I’m just anticipating the holidays so much. I am so excited this year…honestly, I think I’m this excited every year I just forget a year later. 🙂 We have everything wrapped and ready to go. Atticus has been so good at keeping all the presents a secret, which I was very worried about! I only have a few little things left to buy as stocking stuffers, other than that my shopping is done! I love seeing the kids open their gifts…the looks on their faces…they just get so excited. I just can’t wait!
This will be my first year to cook Christmas dinner and I’m not sure why, but I am so thrilled to be cooking Christmas dinner!!! I have it all planned out, the grocery list is made, I’m thinking of ways I can spice up the decorations for the table. I am just really into the Christmas spirit!!
Here’s my menu for dinner. I want input if you have any. Anything special you do for Christmas dinner? Favorite recipes? I would LOVE to hear them or maybe share a link to where I can find them!
*Ham-Recipe from Paula Deen
*Green Bean Casserole
*Black and Green Olives
*Lime Jello with Pears-This is something Jeremy’s MeMaw always made them.
*Dessert-Black and White Pie-My grannys recipe. (Jeremys favorite)
My menu is small, but since it’s my first actual holiday extravaganza I want to make sure I don’t get overwhelmed in the kitchen! I feel like I am missing something though. I don’t know what it is! (Input is welcome…Im begging!) My mother-in-law and brother-in-law are making the drive to Eureka Springs for Christmas, there will be a total of 6 of us eating. Not to big and not to small. Just perfect for my first holiday meal! I am most excited about this…drum roll please…I inherited Jeremy’s MeMaws china a few months ago. It’s still boxed and wrapped in newspaper. I don’t have a china cabinet yet and I have no room in my kitchen cabinets, but I am going to unwrap it and get it ready for this special occasion!! Jeremy is very excited! MeMaw passed away in 2009 and is missed dearly. She was such an amazing woman. I feel very lucky to be able to use her stuff and make so many new memories with the china she loved and shared with her family for so many years.
I will make my weekly trip to Wal-Mart for groceries and last-minute Christmas stuff. I need to hand wash the china…do some cleaning around the house. I have baking to do for neighborly gifts and such. We normally make Christmas ornaments and hand out with the baked goods. That is still the plan, but Jeremy has been extra busy and hasn’t designed them yet. I’m sure it will be a last-minute thing, but it’ll get done! I think we may even have a few friends driving through and stopping to see us sometime this week. I have no idea when yet, it’s still up in the air.
I’m sure we aren’t the only ones who will be busy this week. Are you going out-of-town? Is this your first time cooking for the family? Any traditions? I wanna know! Please share your thoughts and tell me what’s going on at your house.
Until next time! Steph 🙂
I have been feeling crafty lately and needed some inspiration! When I came across this blog and saw the title of this post I knew it was exactly what I needed! Adding Festivity, the Lazy Way: Paper Wreath. Now this is something even I could handle!! It’s such a cute idea and thought I would share. I always have extra wrapping paper left over and never do anything with it…Until now! I have been trying to find neat ideas for left over wrapping paper, so if you have any to share please let me know!! Hope you like this post and try it out yourself!! Check out http://www.alidoesit.wordpress.com for more cool stuff to read! Thanks Ali for the great tips!!
Last year I was a little more organized when it came to my holiday shopping. It helped that I worked at a retail store and I would pick up a few things here and there. The closer it got to Christmas the less I had to buy…boy did that feel good!! It was the first year that I wasn’t stressed out and I was really looking forward to Christmas getting here!! From then on I vowed to start my shopping early every year!
A year later….
I started my Christmas shopping this week. I know…I know…What about starting early?!
Fortunately, we do not have a huge blow out Christmas at our house and I like it that way. I’m sure as the boys get older it’ll get crazier. It just seems like the older kids get the more expensive their taste is. My step daughter is 12 and I’m learning this from experience. 😉 Luckily the boys are 3 and 4….they are happy with just about anything! Toys! Wii games! Art stuff! You name it they like it.
For the first time ever, I am doing my shopping online. Sure….It’s nothing new. I don’t know why I never did it before! I guess I figured once you pay shipping costs you were just paying too much. I have realized that’s a lie. So far all together I’ve paid less than $10 in shipping. I bet I would have spent more in gas just driving store to store than that.
I have never ordered anything from Etsy before. I always love looking at the stuff on there…but never purchased anything. Until this week! Yep…that’s right…I ordered 3 things off Etsy. (Yes I really am this lame.) I can’t wait to get them in and check everything out! Getting presents in the mail is so much better than bills!
Needless to say…I started my shopping this week and I’m happy to announce I am just about finished!!! Even though I started later than I planned and usually I would be freaking out…I decided why stress? Holidays are supposed to be fun! I tried something new and it worked! Shopping online is the best!!
That isn’t the only new thing we’re doing this year. This will be the first year that we will wake up Christmas morning in Eureka Springs. We went back to Oklahoma last year. In 29 years this will be the first Christmas I haven’t been with my Mom and Granny. It is a little sad, but I am excited to start our own tradition. Change is good right?
We will make our way to Oklahoma in January and exchange gifts with the rest of the family. Plus, we are going to a Oklahoma City Thunder basketball game while we are there. I am so excited!! Go Okc Thunder! 🙂
Okay…I’m going to wrap this thing up.
While we were in Oklahoma for Thanksgiving my friend Erica Gibson took some pictures for us. They turned out great!! I had to share at least one! When I have more time I will post a few others!! It’s 6:20 am and I need some sleep. ( I told you I stayed up way to late! )
Thanks for reading!!

I am not a coffee drinker. The smell of coffee is usually a major turn off for me. Lately though, I have had this strange craving for it. So….TODAY WE BOUGHT OUR VERY FIRST COFFEE MAKER! I feel like such an adult. 🙂
You should have seen us in the aisle…we looked totally lost. We know absolutely nothing about this subject. We ended up buying the smallest and cheapest one at Wal-Mart. I had to read the coffee maker book to learn how to even make the first pot. We bought three different types of coffee to try. Dunkin’ Donuts, Millston Seasonal Holiday Peppermint blend, and Folgers Mocha Swirl. We haven’t tried the Dunkin’ Donuts yet. The other two are surprisingly good.
The main reason for this post is…I need some help!! Do you have a favorite brand or type of coffee? Any suggestions you can give me? Does anyone have the Keurig? If you do, do you love it?
Who knows how long this coffee thing will last. As of right now it feels good to have a warm cup of coffee and listen to some christmas music. It’s fun to try new things!
Please comment and let me know any of your coffee secrets. I need all the help I can get!
