Monthly Archives: August 2013

Hello readers. I hope you all enjoyed your Saturday as much as we did. It was HOT in Oklahoma today. I’m not sure what the actual temperature was, but at one point it said 111 in the minivan.

What do you do on a hot day? Swim!! Yes, we went swimming and it was fabulous. I wanted to stay in that pool forever! We had a great time swimming. Summer is almost over and I’m so glad we got a good swim in…just incase we don’t get another 100 degree day!

Here’s a picture from today!

I can’t say it enough…We had so much fun swimming today!

After swimming we did all the other regular day stuff. Eat…went for our walk…baths…blah blah blah. But, before bed we played a few hands of cards and Jerms made some Hawaiian salsa! YUM! We played UNO and slap jacks. We were all cracking up while playing slap jacks. The boys are getting so big. It makes me so sad, but I know it’s a part of life. 😉

This is a typical silly picture of Bonus. Always the life of the party!

Marley wants to watch a scary movie tonight. We’ve got the boys in bed and we’re off to watch Signs. Ever seen it? Great movie!!!

See you tomorrow!

I have a feeling this will be a short post. Typing and yawning…I can barely keep my eyes open.

We had a ridiculously  busy evening. Once we finally got home and made dinner for the kids, it was already 8:30. Guess what today was? Oh yea…our running day!! Thankfully Marley was here, so we fixed them dinner and got them sat down to eat and Jeremy and I went for our run. We ARE dedicated people! I’m glad we went…I definitely didn’t want to miss todays run. It would have been real easy to say “Let’s just do it tomorrow…or the next day.” Who knows if we would have ever done it!!

I feel great and today I got on the scale…drum roll please…I LOST 1.5 pounds. That’s right…1.5!! It may not be much, but I’m doing it! I was so excited to see that 1 pound gone this morning. Great motivation to keep on going! Total goal I want to lose is 25 pounds. I feel like that’s very doable for me. I just want to feel comfortable in my clothes again. That’s not too much to ask!!

Here’s what we did tonight on our run!

I downloaded this app called RunKeeper. It tracks your miles, duration, calories, etc. It’s really cool! If you have the app, add me as your friend! We can be running buddies. 🙂

As I mentioned before…I’m exhausted. I am so glad tomorrow is Saturday! Although I have lots of things to wrap up for Die Cut Crazy…I can relax and work on my computer from home. Not to mention the best part…I get to sleep in tomorrow morning. Thank you Lord! I am so behind on my sleep!

Have a great weekend!

I started a new book last week.

paleo-solution-robb-wolf1

I thought it’d be a good idea to start reading it since we’re trying to make healthier decisions for our family. I’m only on chapter 5. (Don’t judge me….I’m a slow reader!) If you don’t know what the Paleo diet is let me give you a brief description.

‘The Paleo Diet is based upon eating wholesome, contemporary foods from the food groups our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have thrived on during the Paleolithic era, the time period from about 2.6 million years ago to the beginning of the agricultural revolution, about 10,000 years ago. These foods include fresh meats (preferably grass-produced or free-ranging beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and game meat, if you can get it), fish, seafood, fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and healthful oils (olive, coconut, avocado, macadamia, walnut and flaxseed). Dairy products, cereal grains, legumes, refined sugars and processed foods were not part of our ancestral menu.’ (I found this here)

Any of my followers Paleo lovers? I’d really love to hear your input on the subject.

I think we are going to try it. It may seem crazy to most people to switch up your diet completely. We were vegetarians for 2 years, so I know we can do it. There were things we loved about being vegetarian and things I don’t miss at all. Tofu is one of them! I will say I never felt better, my weight was at a comfortable number, and we rarely ever got sick. But the truth is I like meat. I missed it.

I think the Paleo diet could really work for us. I’m excited to kept reading and learn more about it.

Again…I would LOVE to hear your Paleo stories. Please share!!!

Thanks for reading.

P.S. Tomorrow is our running day!

New card to share with you!

I’m 95% my mom doesn’t read my blog, so I’m going to take a chance and post this before she gets it. Her birthday is tomorrow. I won’t share her age…just her card! 😉

photo 1-1

I enjoyed making this card and tried to use colors she’d like. Card making is so fun! I love most of the cards so much,  it’s hard to get rid of them. I just want to hoard them all for myself!!

photo 2-2

I’m sure I’ve said it before….I love using my Silhouette Sketch Pens. My hand writing is horrid, so I can us my Cameo and make it look perfect every time.

I’m starting a wood sign tomorrow! Jeremy is going to cut me some wood while I’m out. I’m looking forward to getting that project started.

Off to bed!

See you folks tomorrow.

Heyyyy! Happy Tuesday everyone! I made a few cards this evening and wanted to share them with you.

I won’t say who they are for. Don’t want to ruin the surprise for anyone. 🙂

My moms birthday is Thursday, so I need to get started on a card for her tomorrow.

We’re about to do some re-decorating! Our guest room rarely has guests in it, so we are making that room into my craft room. We will probably start in the next few weeks! I am so excited. I need a space to have all my stuff out. It’ll be nice to shut the door and not see the mess if I’m in the middle of a project. I’ve been looking at different paint colors…curtains…crafting tables. I want it all!! Luckily my husband is pretty handy at building stuff. That should save us some money here and there. I really need to get my stuff organized, so maybe he can build me some shelves and bins. Yay! I can’t wait!

Hope you liked my cards. It’s not to late, so I’m going to try to get some work done and then I’m off to bed.

Enjoy your Wednesday tomorrow.

How was your Monday? Mine was super! Today we started week 2 of Couch to 5k! Twenty-nine minutes of exercise, with 5 minutes to warm up, 5 minutes of cool-down, and 9 minutes of running. We ran one and a half minutes. Between runs walked 2 minutes. The app suggested resting over the weekend. I was a little worried, not running the last two days!! How was I going to run one and a half minutes today?

To my surprise it wasn’t that bad. I guess this app knows what it’s talking about. Embarrassed to admit,  this is the most running I’ve done in the last 12 years. I’m a little proud of myself! Still hard to imagine that in only 7 weeks from now, I will be able to run for 30 minutes straight. I have NEVER been able to run for that long at once. NEVER!

Has anyone else used this app and had great success? I’ve only known a few people who have used it, and only one of them actually finished it. Everyday I get nervous about our run, but afterwards I feel like a hundred bucks. I’m so glad we decided to do this.  By October 18th we should be 5k ready!! That is so awesome!

Next running day is Wednesday. I love my rest days, but looking forward to running again.

I thought this was cute!

On another note, I have lots of birthdays coming up in the next few days. Tomorrow I need to finish a few cards and get started on some new projects.

I will try to share some pictures tomorrow.

See you soon!

Work, work, and more work.

Do you ever put your work off until the last-minute and then you’re overloaded with 100 things? I do this all the time. I justify it though. At least I’m putting off work to spend time with my family, right? Most nights I stay up until 1 or 2 o’clock, working and answering emails. I get lots of things done in those hours. Kids are sleeping and it’s nice quiet. It’s all fine and dandy until the next morning and I don’t want to wake up because I’m extremely tired.

I need to find a better way to manage my time throughout my day. I know there’s plenty of time I could do things here and there and not put it off until the end of the day or even week. Working from home is harder than one thinks. Especially when you have small children. How do you possibly get everything done in one day? Believe me, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love that I have the option to work from home . I am not complaining, but asking for your help. Do you work from home? What have you found most beneficial for you at managing family and work?

Any tips help.

I better get to work. Tomorrow is Monday and there are lots to be done!

Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoy (the always dreaded) Monday!! 🙂
