Hello stranger! Long time no see, huh?! I have been busy around here. I’m not 100% finished with everything yet, but I will say that the majority of it’s done. That definitely takes a lot of stress off of my mind for a minute. I’ll probably enjoy a day off tomorrow…we’re supposed to get some snow and ice tomorrow through Saturday. It’ll be nice to get snowed in with my 3 guys for the next few days, but it’ll also give me a chance to get caught up on emails and get a head start on January DCC issue. This month we put out two December issues and guess what….one of them is FREE! They are both available on the iPad/iPhone and we will have the PDF available soon! We also brought our sketch challenge back this month. Make sure and check that out above, if you’re interested in entering! We have a $25 Two Peas in a Bucket gift certificate available to whoever is chosen!!

Have you been doing Elf on the Shelf? This is our first year and it’s so fun! I think I enjoy it more than anyone in our house. The boys are starting to understand it, but they’re just not sure about this pesky elf right now. We started it December 1st and the boys named our little elf Mushroom. Yes…Mushroom!! Here’s a few pictures from the last few days.

It’s fun trying to figure out what to do next. I’ve started a folder with ideas from Pinterest, so hopefully I won’t run out of ideas before Christmas. I think it’s a fun tradition to start…I would have loved it when I was a kid. I’d love to see what Elf on the Shelf ideas you have!! Leave me a comment if you’re playing along this year.

Today is my mother-in-laws birthday. I made her this card.

photoI thought I’d do a Christmas/Not so Christmas birthday card since her birthday is in December. I wish I would have taken a picture of the inside. I placed a little Christmas tree with jewels inside and had the boys sign their names. It was really cute and she loved it!! We bought her a plant (I don’t remember what kind…but it was pretty!) and two poinsettias. So the card went well with the gift. 🙂

Well…it’s getting late and I need my beauty sleep. Hope you all stay warm!

What a nice Friday. I had to work today…it was a long day, but I got lots of stuff done. Afterwards, Jerms and I dropped the boys off at Pams (mother in law) house for a few hours and we had a nice date night. We didn’t do anything super crazy, but dinner with no kids is always AMAZING! Jerms and I always have a fun time together.

Jerms.Isn’t he just the cutest? I love my honey bunny.

Today is Michelle (my step-mom) birthday. I made her a card a few days ago, but was unable to share. I didn’t want her to see it on the blog before the big day! She loves to quilt, so I tried my hand at a quilt inspired card. I don’t love the way it turned out, but I learned a lot from it.

Michelle bday card

Well folks…I am really tired. I spent too much time on Pinterest and not enough time blogging tonight. Maybe tomorrow I’ll get a nice good post in for ya. Or maybe I won’t. I guess you will see tomorrow!

Today was a nice day. It was the first day this week that everyone was home all day together. I loved it. We ate together, played together, and worked together. It was fabulous. I crafted for a bit today. Have I mentioned how much I love having my own space? My table is in front of a window, so I opened the curtains and let the sunlight in while I worked on some stuff…it was awesome.

Here’s a card I finished up.

ScrapsNov. copy

I wanted to do something that used up some of my left over scraps from other projects. I already had this leaf image on my Silhouette Studio…it must have been on there when I got my cameo or was a free download…either way I was glad to see it on there when I needed it! Again, I used my sewing machine on the borders. I love incorporating it into my paper crafts. Such a neat idea….I can’t wait to experiment with this more.

I took the boys to trunk or treat tonight. They’re on the count down to how many days left before Halloween! We’ve been learning about days of the week in school, so this has been fun with Halloween approaching. Bonus was super shy and it took him about 10 minutes to finally get warmed up to the idea of being around so many unfamiliar people. Ultimately, the  idea of not getting any candy sunk in and he was ready to go. The boys looked so cute in their costumes. I didn’t get any great pictures tonight, so you’ll have to wait until Thursday to see what they are! Oh the anticipation!!

Jerms is off tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to another great day with my hubs. I better get some sleep…my alarm is set to go off bright and early tomorrow. Jeremy is already snoozing away…it’s rare that he’s ever asleep before me!

Enjoy your Monday!!

I bet you guys thought I forgot about blogging tonight! NOPE!! It’s 3 a.m. and I’m still awake.

I’ve had a full day of crafting, working on the magazine, and cleaning. The boys were pretty good today. Not as much fighting as yesterday! Yippee!!

I just finished a card for my moms partner. Cari’s birthday was September 19th and we were in Eureka Springs on vacation. I should have made her card before we left…that just didn’t happen. So I did it today! Better late then never, right?

photo 2

In the picture from left to right: Me, My mom Tricia, Cari, and my brother Brody.

It’s not really a birthday card…more like a ‘We love you! Sorry I didn’t mail you a birthday card!’ type of card. Does that make sense?

I did some Halloween crafting today as well. Tomorrow the boys and I are going to paint mini pumpkins. That should be fun! I’m looking forward to Halloween. The weather is changing and I am loving the cooler temps. I need to get the fall decor out. Maybe I’ll get to that tomorrow.

It’s getting late. A few episodes of Portlandia and then I’m off to bed.

New card to share with you!

I’m 95% my mom doesn’t read my blog, so I’m going to take a chance and post this before she gets it. Her birthday is tomorrow. I won’t share her age…just her card! 😉

photo 1-1

I enjoyed making this card and tried to use colors she’d like. Card making is so fun! I love most of the cards so much,  it’s hard to get rid of them. I just want to hoard them all for myself!!

photo 2-2

I’m sure I’ve said it before….I love using my Silhouette Sketch Pens. My hand writing is horrid, so I can us my Cameo and make it look perfect every time.

I’m starting a wood sign tomorrow! Jeremy is going to cut me some wood while I’m out. I’m looking forward to getting that project started.

Off to bed!

See you folks tomorrow.

Hello! I hope everyone had a magnificent weekend! We had a great one. Very relaxing, quite, and productive! I’m refreshed and ready to take on the week. Our friend from Eureka is supposed to come visit us next weekend. I’m eager to see if she will make it. It’s still not 100% if she will be able to get away. It’ll be lots of fun having her here for a few days.

Anyhoodles! Who’s up for a challenge?

I’ve been apart of Die Cut Crazy Magazine since February. It’s a lot of work, but I really enjoy it!  In the July issue we started a monthly challenge. This month it’s all about flowers!

page3

I can’t technically enter, but I do like to challenge myself and make a card based off it. If you’re a crafter and love a challenge, we wish you’d join us! Look what you could win!

This tool kit is awesome! These tools come in real handy and I love the molding pad. So useful.

Does anyone have one of these kits they use on a regular basis?

If you’d like to enter, all you need to do is email your entry to diecutcrazymag@gmail.com

The challenge ends at the end of the month. Make sure and get your entry in!  I’m looking forward to seeing who will win!

I’m off to craft. 🙂

Today was great! First day of home school was a success!! Bonus is officially in Pre-K and Atticus is Kindergarten. ABCMouse.com was a big hit. The boys really enjoy it and throughout the day they were asking to do more! I had each kid do their computer learning while I did paper work with the other. That helped me out a lot. I could really focus on helping them do the sheets, while the other was learning on the computer. I think this year is off to a great start. I’m excited about tomorrow and so are the boys!!

Another awesome thing we did today…Jeremy and I started Couch to 5k! We have been trying to exercise regularly and have heard great things about the app. We thought we’d give it a try tonight. Believe me…I am NOT a runner. I love the idea, but I have never enjoyed it. I’m hoping this will help me get over my fear of running. The first 5 minutes is warm up walking. From there you do 8 sets of 1 minute runs.  In between runs you walk for 1.5 minutes. It went smoothly. We ended up only doing 6 sets of running tonight. It doesn’t sound like a lot until you do it! I was exhausted!! It’s a 9 week program and I’m excited to see how it goes. Each week gets harder and harder and builds you up to where you can run up to 30 minutes. I have never even made 2 laps around the track so this should be interesting! It felt great to be trying something new.

How far we will come in that 9 weeks.?! Stay tuned for updates. I’m sure you will be hearing about it a little each week! 🙂

I laid out a card tonight and hopefully will get to it tomorrow. Off to watch a movie with the hubby.

I almost forgot…Today is Lucy’s birthday!! Look how sweet she is! We couldn’t ask for a better pup. Lucy is 2 years old today!

See ya tomorrow! Steph Shock

I’ve always loved getting mail (as long as it’s not bills!) and I enjoy sending cards to people when they least expect it. It’s nice to get a little note every once in a while to say hi and just let someone know you’re thinking of them. I don’t think people do that enough. Most are too busy to sit down and jot a little note to say “hey! I was just thinking about you.”

Today I sat down and made a Thank You card for my hand therapist Brenda.

She is amazing and deserves more than just a card. Everyday I dreaded going to therapy, but I always had a great time while I was there. Besides the pain she put me through, she always made me laugh…always comforted me when I was in pain…and she did wonders for my hand. If it wasn’t for her I’d still be one-handed! She is great at her job and you can tell she really loves what she does. I feel lucky to have met her and I hope she enjoys the card I made her.

photo-1

I love the bright colors and miss matched patterns. It reminds me of Brenda’s personality…happy and fun. I think she will really like it! I enjoyed making it and hope it puts a smile on her face. It’s the least I could do after all she has done for me.

I’m off to make another card. Both kids are at grandmas tonight, so I have lots of me time to craft and spend time with the hubs.

See you tomorrow!

Let me start off by saying…what a freaking week. As of Sunday I’ve put us on lockdown. No one leaves the house (besides taking the dog out) until at least Friday.

Let me catch you up a little.

Last Tuesday we left Eureka Springs and drove to Oklahoma. Nothing crazy…arrived around 5:30 and had dinner with the family. Wednesday I got my hair trimmed and saw the mother-in-law. Thursday was Atticus’ birthday!!! Didn’t do anything super crazy…had lunch with Jeremys cousins, opened some presents, visited with some friends, had birthday cake after dinner with family. Friday…We had Atticus a birthday party. It was great. A few of his friends came…they screamed and ran around like crazy…everyone had cake and ice cream…opened presents…more screaming and running…took Marley back home…and went to the big town of Minco Oklahoma to stay with my grandma. Talk about EXHAUSTING. We grabbed dinner on the way to Minco…ate…went to bed. Saturday around 4 am, I couldn’t sleep. I moved to the couch. 5 am….I’m SICK! I don’t remember being so sick. 7 am…here comes Atticus, who is also not feeling well. Needless to say, Saturday was horrible. I felt like death. (Ok…maybe I’m being a little dramatic) Sunday we drove home. Monday was our day of rest. We spent every single minute in bed. It is now Tuesday and I feel better. A lot better. Atticus is feeling a little better. Hasn’t ran a temp over 100 today. He is still sluggish. I wish so badly he will wake up tomorrow morning and feel 100% better. Thankfully Jeremy and Bonus have felt great. I pray that no one else gets sick. Today I lysoled anything that I thought Atticus may have touched. Lysol is a mothers best friend.

Here’s a picture of Atticus with his Mario cake! He had a great birthday with his friends.

Today is the first day in a week…yes a week…i’ve been able to make anything. I haven’t used my die cut machine in a week. (I cannot believe it.) I decided to make a card for the wonderful lady who made Atticus his birthday cake. This card gave me nothing but trouble and I feel like it came out looking like a big Easter egg, but it serves its purpose. Sorry, for my negative ranting…I will offset it with something positive…I have been using Silhouettes brand of glitter and love it. I received the glitter and double-sided adhesive paper with my Cameo bundle. I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked. A little bit of glitter goes a long way. My new motto: When in doubt…use glitter.

photo 1

Are you seeing the easter egg reference here? I love these colors together, but there is something about it that is just not working for me. Heck…maybe it’s the shape of the ovals I cut out in the purple layer…or maybe I’ve just been looking at it for too long. Anyhoodles…I love the glitter.

photo 2

Here is the final outcome. I like it. It’s not my favorite….but, it is better than any card I could have bought from Wal-Mart. So that makes it okay in my book! 🙂

For the inside, I cut some pink card stock and sprayed it with my Krylon glitter spray. (That is another favorite item I’ve grown to love.) I will have to pick up an extra can of that when I go back to Hobby Lobby. I used my Silhouette sketch pens to write in my “thank you” and I was finished.

photo 3

Even though this card was simple, it took me way to long to make. It was nice to sit down at the table and create something again. It has been the only time since Saturday where I’ve felt a little bit of peace…and I am grateful for that.

I have 2 more days of “lockdown” and I need to be productive. What shall I create tomorrow? Something fun and exciting?! I hope so!! I need to clean. My mom-in-law is coming this weekend to visit. We need to be healthy…clean…and happy by Friday. Wish us luck!! 😉

Before I go, I want to give my husband Jeremy a shout out!! Thank you so much for taking care of Atticus and me while we’ve been sick. You are the best husband I could have ever imagined having. I love you.

Thanks for reading everyone! See ya next time.

Trying to think positive! -Steph Shock
