I am so thankful tomorrow is a holiday and we have another day off. All around great weekend. So great that I need an extra day to recoup. 😉
Marley goes back home tomorrow. I love when we she comes to spend the weekends with us. She will go home tomorrow and come back Friday, so she won’t be gone to long! Next weekend we’re going to an amusement park! The kids are on a countdown! 7 more days!
Today was our running day. This week has been harder than I expected. Jeremy’s knees have been bothering him and I feel like a big sack of bricks. I think we may do week 2 again, just to make sure we are 100% ready to start week 3. Although we did make it the entire time…I barely made it. I wanted to quit so bad, but I didn’t. I guess that is a good thing!
Anyone doing couch to 5k experience the same thing? Did you move along to the next week or repeat the week? I’m kinda back and forth. I feel like we should move forward and just push through, but at the same time I want to make sure we are physically ready. I don’t know what to do!! Help!
Besides running, we just hung out around the house. Jeremy made a great dinner tonight. (I love when he cooks.) I did laundry and other boring stuff like cleaning etc. It always feels good to have a clean house. Now that I think about it…I still have a load of towels in the dryer. Ugh! That means I still have one more load to fold!!!
I better go and get that done before I forget again.
See you all tomorrow.
Have a great Labor Day!!!
P.S. Am I the only one in shock that it’s already September?! Where has the year gone!!??
How was your Monday? Mine was super! Today we started week 2 of Couch to 5k! Twenty-nine minutes of exercise, with 5 minutes to warm up, 5 minutes of cool-down, and 9 minutes of running. We ran one and a half minutes. Between runs walked 2 minutes. The app suggested resting over the weekend. I was a little worried, not running the last two days!! How was I going to run one and a half minutes today?
To my surprise it wasn’t that bad. I guess this app knows what it’s talking about. Embarrassed to admit, this is the most running I’ve done in the last 12 years. I’m a little proud of myself! Still hard to imagine that in only 7 weeks from now, I will be able to run for 30 minutes straight. I have NEVER been able to run for that long at once. NEVER!
Has anyone else used this app and had great success? I’ve only known a few people who have used it, and only one of them actually finished it. Everyday I get nervous about our run, but afterwards I feel like a hundred bucks. I’m so glad we decided to do this. By October 18th we should be 5k ready!! That is so awesome!
Next running day is Wednesday. I love my rest days, but looking forward to running again.
I thought this was cute!
On another note, I have lots of birthdays coming up in the next few days. Tomorrow I need to finish a few cards and get started on some new projects.
I will try to share some pictures tomorrow.
See you soon!
Hey everyone. We have a great friend staying with us this weekend. She arrived today and we’ve had a great time so far. Her name is Raechel…Hi Racheal!!…she has traveled from Arkansas, just to see us! I feel so special. 🙂
We have a barbecue to attend tomorrow, but no other big plans. We played skip-bo tonight with my granny (sounds super exciting right?!) and had fun. I’m looking forward to just hanging out and enjoying the time she’s here.
Tonight’s a short post. My apologies. Skip-bo wore me out. I’m ready for bed.
Thank God it’s FRIDAY!
Enjoy your weekend.
P.S. Today was our running day. It was easier today than any other day. My only regret was going at noon and it was so HOT!!! Great run though. We’ve officially made it through the first week of Couch to 5k! Yay!!
Running. What can I say….We started Couch to 5k last week. We finished one day and…(silence) Things just came up! Weather was bad, blah blah blah.
Well…I’m happy to say we started back this week! Monday was our first day back and it went really well. If you’ve never used the app before, let me just fill you in on a few details.
Couch to 5k is an app on the iPhone. (I’m sure you can probably get it on other devices…I’m just not aware of all of them.) It’s a 9 week program that slowly builds you up and teaches you to run long distances. I will admit I can barely jog one full lap around a track. I’ve never been a runner. I’ve never enjoyed it. I’ve seen plenty of people who jog and have always admired them. The first week we will jog every other day. You start with a brisk 5 minute walk and then comes the fun part…running. You will run for 1 minute. Sounds easy right? Well…the first one is. It’s a total breeze. After your 1 minute, you walk for a minute and a half. You will repeat this as you run a total of 8 times and finish with a cool down 5 minute walk.
I was tired. There were plenty of times I wished Jeremy would say “Okay…I’m done for today. Let’s just quit.” He never did. I kept telling myself “You can do this. Just keep going. You’re not going to die!” I’m happy to announce…We did it!! We did the entire thing today and by the end of it I was still alive and breathing. Not to mention I actually felt great!! I felt accomplished. I really did it. It may not be much for some, but it’s huge for me. It’s a little baby step to what is to come and I am excited to see what I can complete in the 9 weeks.
Again…It helps that Jeremy and I are doing this together. He is a great partner and motivator.
I am grateful that tomorrow is our rest day, but looking forward to another great day Friday.
See you tomorrow!
Today was great! First day of home school was a success!! Bonus is officially in Pre-K and Atticus is Kindergarten. ABCMouse.com was a big hit. The boys really enjoy it and throughout the day they were asking to do more! I had each kid do their computer learning while I did paper work with the other. That helped me out a lot. I could really focus on helping them do the sheets, while the other was learning on the computer. I think this year is off to a great start. I’m excited about tomorrow and so are the boys!!
Another awesome thing we did today…Jeremy and I started Couch to 5k! We have been trying to exercise regularly and have heard great things about the app. We thought we’d give it a try tonight. Believe me…I am NOT a runner. I love the idea, but I have never enjoyed it. I’m hoping this will help me get over my fear of running. The first 5 minutes is warm up walking. From there you do 8 sets of 1 minute runs. In between runs you walk for 1.5 minutes. It went smoothly. We ended up only doing 6 sets of running tonight. It doesn’t sound like a lot until you do it! I was exhausted!! It’s a 9 week program and I’m excited to see how it goes. Each week gets harder and harder and builds you up to where you can run up to 30 minutes. I have never even made 2 laps around the track so this should be interesting! It felt great to be trying something new.
How far we will come in that 9 weeks.?! Stay tuned for updates. I’m sure you will be hearing about it a little each week! 🙂
I laid out a card tonight and hopefully will get to it tomorrow. Off to watch a movie with the hubby.
I almost forgot…Today is Lucy’s birthday!! Look how sweet she is! We couldn’t ask for a better pup. Lucy is 2 years old today!
See ya tomorrow! Steph Shock
