What a day.
That’s all I’ve got.
Not a bad day and not a super excellent one either.
I’ve got a headache. I blame it on the bad food we ate for dinner. We have been eating so healthy lately. Today I gave in. I ate taco bell and I truly believe that’s why I’m feeling so yucky. Was it worth it? I think not.
Maybe I will learn my lesson.
Why is eating healthy so hard? I can conquer so many other ‘hard’ things, but eating healthy is such a job. It’s just an excuse…I already know it’s not any harder to eat healthy things compared to processed foods. But why do we make such excuses for ourselves? Convenience? Taste?
This day in age we are accustomed to eating bad. I don’t want my kids growing up that way. I was never taught how to eat healthy growing up. We ate whatever, whenever, and however much we wanted. I loved it. We had soda all day everyday.
And now my body is addicted to all this crap!!
“I want to be healthy. It’s not hard. I CAN do it.”
I’ve got to keep repeating that over and over. All day long.
I need to look into healthy recipes. Become a better cook…Keep running.
There are so many things I need to do…

Tomorrow is a new day. Back to eating right and running!
We are going to re-run week 2 and see how that goes.
I’m off to take a hot bath and relax. Maybe that’ll take care of this lingering headache.

I started a new book last week.
I thought it’d be a good idea to start reading it since we’re trying to make healthier decisions for our family. I’m only on chapter 5. (Don’t judge me….I’m a slow reader!) If you don’t know what the Paleo diet is let me give you a brief description.
‘The Paleo Diet is based upon eating wholesome, contemporary foods from the food groups our hunter-gatherer ancestors would have thrived on during the Paleolithic era, the time period from about 2.6 million years ago to the beginning of the agricultural revolution, about 10,000 years ago. These foods include fresh meats (preferably grass-produced or free-ranging beef, pork, lamb, poultry, and game meat, if you can get it), fish, seafood, fresh fruits, vegetables, seeds, nuts, and healthful oils (olive, coconut, avocado, macadamia, walnut and flaxseed). Dairy products, cereal grains, legumes, refined sugars and processed foods were not part of our ancestral menu.’ (I found this here)
Any of my followers Paleo lovers? I’d really love to hear your input on the subject.
I think we are going to try it. It may seem crazy to most people to switch up your diet completely. We were vegetarians for 2 years, so I know we can do it. There were things we loved about being vegetarian and things I don’t miss at all. Tofu is one of them! I will say I never felt better, my weight was at a comfortable number, and we rarely ever got sick. But the truth is I like meat. I missed it.
I think the Paleo diet could really work for us. I’m excited to kept reading and learn more about it.

I have something great to share with you tonight. It’s refreshing, tastes great, and good for you. Naturally flavored water!! It’s been all over Pinterest. I’ve pinned it before and never tried it. Today I don’t know what came over me, but it just popped in my head…I want to make some flavored water! I am so glad I did.
It’s easy…it’s healthy…it’s delicious.
You can look up recipes or just make up your own. Have some fun with it. In this batch I threw in one cucumber, one lime, one lemon, and some mint. I love it. Jeremy not so much. He’s not much of a cucumber lover. (cucumbers have lots of great benefits) Atticus LOVES it. I am afraid he may drink it all before I get to it tomorrow. 😉
I’m going to try some different mixtures. It’ll be fun to let the boys pick what fruits they want to add. It’s a really great way to get yourself (or kids) drinking more water if you have trouble with plain boring water.
You should really try it. I think you’ll love the taste and the benefits from it.

Today is the day…I decided it’s time to make the big change. The one I’ve been dreading! It’s time to get healthy!! I love food. I love convenience . Some days I don’t want to cook and it’s just easier to grab something quick. Not anymore. I’m tired of having no energy, being weighed down by the extra weight, and I want to show a healthy example for the kids.
Today I stocked up on veggies. Have you heard of Sprouts? If you have one in your area, it’s worth the trip. I was amazed at their prices and the selection is amazing. Most health food stores are outrageously priced. Sprouts is not. I got so much stuff for very little.
Look at all this yummy goodness. I am so ready for this change. I need it. Heck we all need it!!
We also started back at our running tonight. My legs are so tired. I know it’s not going to be easy, but I can do it! I need to stay motivated. It helps that Jeremy is running with me! How do you stay motivated with food and exercise? Do you have any favorite websites? Magazines? Please share. I would love the help.
Tomorrow we start back juicing. I love juicing. It is amazing. The only thing I dislike about it, the clean up!! Yuck! Have you ever seen the movie Fat, Sick, and Nearly Dead? You must watch it! It will change your life. It was on Netflix…I need to look and see if it’s still on instant stream. It is highly motivating.
Welp…I’m off to bed. I need a good nights rest after our run today!
