Hello stranger! Long time no see, huh?! I have been busy around here. I’m not 100% finished with everything yet, but I will say that the majority of it’s done. That definitely takes a lot of stress off of my mind for a minute. I’ll probably enjoy a day off tomorrow…we’re supposed to get some snow and ice tomorrow through Saturday. It’ll be nice to get snowed in with my 3 guys for the next few days, but it’ll also give me a chance to get caught up on emails and get a head start on January DCC issue. This month we put out two December issues and guess what….one of them is FREE! They are both available on the iPad/iPhone and we will have the PDF available soon! We also brought our sketch challenge back this month. Make sure and check that out above, if you’re interested in entering! We have a $25 Two Peas in a Bucket gift certificate available to whoever is chosen!!
Have you been doing Elf on the Shelf? This is our first year and it’s so fun! I think I enjoy it more than anyone in our house. The boys are starting to understand it, but they’re just not sure about this pesky elf right now. We started it December 1st and the boys named our little elf Mushroom. Yes…Mushroom!! Here’s a few pictures from the last few days.
It’s fun trying to figure out what to do next. I’ve started a folder with ideas from Pinterest, so hopefully I won’t run out of ideas before Christmas. I think it’s a fun tradition to start…I would have loved it when I was a kid. I’d love to see what Elf on the Shelf ideas you have!! Leave me a comment if you’re playing along this year.
Today is my mother-in-laws birthday. I made her this card.
I thought I’d do a Christmas/Not so Christmas birthday card since her birthday is in December. I wish I would have taken a picture of the inside. I placed a little Christmas tree with jewels inside and had the boys sign their names. It was really cute and she loved it!! We bought her a plant (I don’t remember what kind…but it was pretty!) and two poinsettias. So the card went well with the gift. 🙂
Well…it’s getting late and I need my beauty sleep. Hope you all stay warm!
Work…Work…Work…I feel like that’s all I’ve done today. I guess I should feel accomplished, but honestly it just makes me feel behind! I guess I did get a lot done today, but not everything. I’ve got a few more jam-packed days ahead of me, but I can’t complain. I’ve decided this is what I want to do and I should be grateful to have made that decision. Most people hate their job…I really quite enjoy mine! (Most days!) We are working on a Free Holiday issue for Die Cut Crazy! I’m excited to get that finished and get to work on the other December issue that will also be coming out.
I’m trying to get most of my work finished before the weekend. It would be nice to not have the worry of work around me while we’re trying to get to know our new puppy!!! I think we’ve decided on the name Juno for our new family member. Jeremy is pretty set on that one and I don’t hate it! I am really excited and anxious about getting her. Puppies are a lot of fun, but also a lot of work. I’m sure it’ll go smooth, but I like to worry about ridiculous things. (kidding, but true.)
I’m getting pretty tired and still need to jump in the shower. I think I’m done working for the evening and I have another full day of it tomorrow.
Enjoy your Thursday everyone. I will try to enjoy mine.
I’ve got a lot of work to do tonight before bed, so this won’t be long. I’ll just sum up our day today.
*Home school was a success. We learned about the days of the week with a fun new song and did some science activities on the computer.
*I got a lot done at work today…it’s been a little rough adjusting to the boys going with me. It was easier when I could go, get my work finished and leave. Now I’m constantly stopping here and there to do random things. It’ll get better.
*The boys got a lot of play time today. After work we hung around and I got some girl time with Michelle while they played with Amanda. They had a blast.
*We had pizza for dinner. It was good and I’ve been stuffed ever since.
*Right now, Jerms and I are watching The Walking Dead. We just started it on Netflix a few days ago. This show is nuts. Sometimes it’s a little to graphic for me. I’m not one who likes zombie shows, but this is like a bad wreck…you shouldn’t look, but you can’t stop staring! We’re on season 2 now. Any watchers?
*I decided today that I want to cut my hair. I don’t know if I will, but it’s getting on my last nerve. It’s so long, which I love, but it’s so annoying to flat-iron everyday. My hair is so thick. It’s not curly, but it has this wave (not a cute wave…totally worthless wave.) Jerms likes my hair long, so I’ll try to ride it out a little longer. Not sure how long that’ll last.
*I didn’t do the dishes today, so I’ll have a pile waiting on me in the morning. JOY!! It’s a good thing I’m off tomorrow! Well..sort of.
I gotta go. I’m exhausted and I still need to work on the magazine.
I love the rain! Well…let me rephrase that…I love the rain when I don’t have to get out in it! It’s 12:30 am, I’m in bed and it’s thundering and raining outside…It’s so relaxing.
Tomorrow starts a new week for us. We are starting a new schedule and I have faith it’ll work according to my plan. Jeremy was a full-time tattoo artist before we moved to Arkansas 2 years ago. He’s taken a little time off and decided last month he’s ready to get back to what he loves. I mentioned a few post back that I have been working part-time helping out at the family business, so my schedule will also be changing. Luckily, I will be able to take the kids to work with me on the few days I do go…that’s a major plus. We will home school in the morning and after lunch we will go to work for the day. This will be a little bit of an adjustment. Jeremy normally home schools on the days I am away from the house, but I think with a little planning I will have this down in no time. I need to make a schedule for home schooling, working part-time, and working full-time on Die Cut Crazy. I will need to be very responsible with the time I have everyday and make the most of it. When Jeremy gets home in the evening, I’d like to be able to spend that time with him and not spend it catching up on work.
I’m excited for this change. It will take some time adjusting to not seeing Jeremy as much as I’m use too, but I know how making art makes him happy. It’ll be good for him to get back to it and being around other artists/his friends. It’ll also be good for me to be under so much pressure. For some reason I work well that way. I need to step up to the plate and take care of business! I’m not sure how much longer I’ll work outside the home. I need my main focus to be on home schooling and the magazine during the day. I’m hoping I can make it all work, but I’m not super woman! 😉
The rain has tapered off and I better get some rest. Big day ahead tomorrow!
Work, work, and more work.
Do you ever put your work off until the last-minute and then you’re overloaded with 100 things? I do this all the time. I justify it though. At least I’m putting off work to spend time with my family, right? Most nights I stay up until 1 or 2 o’clock, working and answering emails. I get lots of things done in those hours. Kids are sleeping and it’s nice quiet. It’s all fine and dandy until the next morning and I don’t want to wake up because I’m extremely tired.
I need to find a better way to manage my time throughout my day. I know there’s plenty of time I could do things here and there and not put it off until the end of the day or even week. Working from home is harder than one thinks. Especially when you have small children. How do you possibly get everything done in one day? Believe me, I wouldn’t change it for the world. I love that I have the option to work from home . I am not complaining, but asking for your help. Do you work from home? What have you found most beneficial for you at managing family and work?
Any tips help.
I better get to work. Tomorrow is Monday and there are lots to be done!
Hope you all had a great weekend and enjoy (the always dreaded) Monday!! 🙂
