I didn’t blog yesterday. Did anyone notice? By the time I remembered, I was tucked into bed about to doze off. I didn’t have anything important to write about anyway. Not that I ever do, but hey…I promise I’d write, so that’s what I’m doing.
I did a lot of cleaning today. Nothing better than putting a new vacuum bag in and just going crazy. The kids asked at least 4 times “Are you done yet?” No way!!! I’m vacuuming everything…can’t you see that!? I love a clean house and fresh Scentsy. I also had a chance to get some card making in. I was having a little trouble figuring out what to do today. I knew I needed to make a few cards, but nothing was really jumping out at me. I started this card and ended up taking a break half way. I just wasn’t feeling it. Sometimes, I just have to walk away for a few hours (or even the night) and come back to it.
This is what I ended up with.
This card took way to long to make. It’s like I was in slow motion. I have 3 other cards that I need to work on this week. I’m hoping I’ll have some free time tomorrow to get those started. I need another birthday and 2 get well cards. Wish me luck! Jerms is off tomorrow, so we should have plenty of time to create. His desk is in the same room as my crafts, so as I’m crafting he does his drawing/painting. It’s been really nice to have that time together.
I’m making an apple cake tomorrow. Jerms loves it. I think I’ll share the recipe with you tomorrow night. It’s super easy and you probably already have everything to make it. Have a great Monday!
Today was a nice day. It was the first day this week that everyone was home all day together. I loved it. We ate together, played together, and worked together. It was fabulous. I crafted for a bit today. Have I mentioned how much I love having my own space? My table is in front of a window, so I opened the curtains and let the sunlight in while I worked on some stuff…it was awesome.
Here’s a card I finished up.
I wanted to do something that used up some of my left over scraps from other projects. I already had this leaf image on my Silhouette Studio…it must have been on there when I got my cameo or was a free download…either way I was glad to see it on there when I needed it! Again, I used my sewing machine on the borders. I love incorporating it into my paper crafts. Such a neat idea….I can’t wait to experiment with this more.
I took the boys to trunk or treat tonight. They’re on the count down to how many days left before Halloween! We’ve been learning about days of the week in school, so this has been fun with Halloween approaching. Bonus was super shy and it took him about 10 minutes to finally get warmed up to the idea of being around so many unfamiliar people. Ultimately, the idea of not getting any candy sunk in and he was ready to go. The boys looked so cute in their costumes. I didn’t get any great pictures tonight, so you’ll have to wait until Thursday to see what they are! Oh the anticipation!!
Jerms is off tomorrow, so I’m looking forward to another great day with my hubs. I better get some sleep…my alarm is set to go off bright and early tomorrow. Jeremy is already snoozing away…it’s rare that he’s ever asleep before me!
Enjoy your Monday!!
Hello! I’m up late crafting and thought I’d go ahead and get my blog in before I start on something else. I made this card for my little sister who had surgery on her ear last Thursday. Her favorite color is yellow, so I hope she enjoys all the bright colors. I had fun with this one. A little too much fun, because I ended up doing it twice! I messed up on the first one and had to start over. I tried to hide my mistake, but there was no way to make it look the way I imagined without just starting fresh. I ended up switching a few things the second time around and it turned out better than I had originally planned, so I was pleased.
Here’s a picture of the final product.
I really like it. This is my first card I tried the stitching on. Now that I finally have a space to craft, I can get my sewing machine out no problem!! Don’t be surprised if I go stitch overload….I’ll try to keep it to a minimum. 😉
I’m off to do a little more crafting before bed.
Enjoy your Sunday! It’s almost Halloween!!
This morning I woke up with a slight headache. All I wanted to do is snuggle in bed and never get up! That didn’t last long though. Jeremy got a call from his mom and his grandma was in town and wanted to see us. I jumped out of bed, we all hurried to get ready, and headed out the door. Don’t worry…I took some Excedrine before we left the house. My headache didn’t last long and we had a fabulous day.
The weather today was amazing. I think the high today was about 75. We spent a lot of time outside playing basketball, Simon says, duck duck goose…we had a great time. We also played a few board games. Have you heard of Minotaurus? It’s a Lego game. Atticus had to have it last Christmas.
I don’t really love the game, but the kids do! I guess that’s all that matters. 🙂
I did a little crafting!! Jeremy made me a framed wood sign a while ago. I didn’t really know what I wanted to do with it until today. Here’s what I came up with.
There’s a few things I wish would’ve turned out differently, but I really like it for the most part. This is a line from a song, Murder in the City. The Avett Brothers are so talented. If you don’t know their music, you need to check it out now!! Seriously. Check them out.
Thanks for reading!
New card to share with you!
I’m 95% my mom doesn’t read my blog, so I’m going to take a chance and post this before she gets it. Her birthday is tomorrow. I won’t share her age…just her card! 😉
I enjoyed making this card and tried to use colors she’d like. Card making is so fun! I love most of the cards so much, it’s hard to get rid of them. I just want to hoard them all for myself!!
I’m sure I’ve said it before….I love using my Silhouette Sketch Pens. My hand writing is horrid, so I can us my Cameo and make it look perfect every time.
I’m starting a wood sign tomorrow! Jeremy is going to cut me some wood while I’m out. I’m looking forward to getting that project started.
Off to bed!
See you folks tomorrow.
Hello!! Today is Thursday and I couldn’t be happier that tomorrow is Friday! My favorite day of the week! Both of the boys are feeling a little crummy. Runny noses and coughing. I’m hoping they feel better by tomorrow. I hate when they feel bad.
I don’t have much to share tonight. Besides work, I didn’t do much today.
With that said, I thought I’d share some of my favorite projects I’ve done within the last month or two. I don’t want to go picture overload. Just some of my favs I haven’t shared with you yet. This may not be Instagram, but I can have my own Throwback Thursday, right? Oh yea! Here we go!
I love chevron. I love teal. With those 2 items on one card it makes my heart happy.
Washi tape is my new best friend. I don’t know why I resisted it for so long. I absolutely love it. Like really, LOVE it! I think this was my first card using washi.
Remember when I said “I love washi!” Well I wasn’t lying. This is my favorite card. I love all the mixed colors and patterns. I gave this one to my brothers girlfriend for her birthday. It was a hard one to let go. I wanted to keep it forever!!
The inside is my favorite. I kinda went washi crazy, but I love the added color and pop it adds. I used my Silhouette Sketch Pens on the writing. I use those a lot. I like hand written sentiments, but I don’t love my handwriting. The sketch pens are real handy for me.
I mailed my thank you card to my hand therapist yesterday. I can’t wait for her to get it! I’m hoping she gets it tomorrow. That would be a great way to start her weekend!
Have a great Friday everyone! See you tomorrow. 🙂
Let me start off by saying…what a freaking week. As of Sunday I’ve put us on lockdown. No one leaves the house (besides taking the dog out) until at least Friday.
Let me catch you up a little.
Last Tuesday we left Eureka Springs and drove to Oklahoma. Nothing crazy…arrived around 5:30 and had dinner with the family. Wednesday I got my hair trimmed and saw the mother-in-law. Thursday was Atticus’ birthday!!! Didn’t do anything super crazy…had lunch with Jeremys cousins, opened some presents, visited with some friends, had birthday cake after dinner with family. Friday…We had Atticus a birthday party. It was great. A few of his friends came…they screamed and ran around like crazy…everyone had cake and ice cream…opened presents…more screaming and running…took Marley back home…and went to the big town of Minco Oklahoma to stay with my grandma. Talk about EXHAUSTING. We grabbed dinner on the way to Minco…ate…went to bed. Saturday around 4 am, I couldn’t sleep. I moved to the couch. 5 am….I’m SICK! I don’t remember being so sick. 7 am…here comes Atticus, who is also not feeling well. Needless to say, Saturday was horrible. I felt like death. (Ok…maybe I’m being a little dramatic) Sunday we drove home. Monday was our day of rest. We spent every single minute in bed. It is now Tuesday and I feel better. A lot better. Atticus is feeling a little better. Hasn’t ran a temp over 100 today. He is still sluggish. I wish so badly he will wake up tomorrow morning and feel 100% better. Thankfully Jeremy and Bonus have felt great. I pray that no one else gets sick. Today I lysoled anything that I thought Atticus may have touched. Lysol is a mothers best friend.
Here’s a picture of Atticus with his Mario cake! He had a great birthday with his friends.
Today is the first day in a week…yes a week…i’ve been able to make anything. I haven’t used my die cut machine in a week. (I cannot believe it.) I decided to make a card for the wonderful lady who made Atticus his birthday cake. This card gave me nothing but trouble and I feel like it came out looking like a big Easter egg, but it serves its purpose. Sorry, for my negative ranting…I will offset it with something positive…I have been using Silhouettes brand of glitter and love it. I received the glitter and double-sided adhesive paper with my Cameo bundle. I was pleasantly surprised how well it worked. A little bit of glitter goes a long way. My new motto: When in doubt…use glitter.
Are you seeing the easter egg reference here? I love these colors together, but there is something about it that is just not working for me. Heck…maybe it’s the shape of the ovals I cut out in the purple layer…or maybe I’ve just been looking at it for too long. Anyhoodles…I love the glitter.
Here is the final outcome. I like it. It’s not my favorite….but, it is better than any card I could have bought from Wal-Mart. So that makes it okay in my book! 🙂
For the inside, I cut some pink card stock and sprayed it with my Krylon glitter spray. (That is another favorite item I’ve grown to love.) I will have to pick up an extra can of that when I go back to Hobby Lobby. I used my Silhouette sketch pens to write in my “thank you” and I was finished.
Even though this card was simple, it took me way to long to make. It was nice to sit down at the table and create something again. It has been the only time since Saturday where I’ve felt a little bit of peace…and I am grateful for that.
I have 2 more days of “lockdown” and I need to be productive. What shall I create tomorrow? Something fun and exciting?! I hope so!! I need to clean. My mom-in-law is coming this weekend to visit. We need to be healthy…clean…and happy by Friday. Wish us luck!! 😉
Before I go, I want to give my husband Jeremy a shout out!! Thank you so much for taking care of Atticus and me while we’ve been sick. You are the best husband I could have ever imagined having. I love you.
Thanks for reading everyone! See ya next time.
Trying to think positive! -Steph Shock
My son Atticus Beeker will be 5 on the 21st. I can’t believe it. Where has the time gone? If you are wondering…his middle name is Beeker…like the muppet, but spelled differently! 🙂 It’s hard to believe how fast he is growing up. It seems like yesterday he was just a little baby. Here’s a picture of Marley and Atticus when he was little.
How cute is he?? I just love him so much. We’re having a Super Mario Bros. birthday party. He loves anything and everything Mario Brothers. This last Halloween Atticus was Mario and his brother Bonus was Luigi. It was the most adorable thing to see them dressed up together. They have a lot of fun as best friends/brothers. Here’s a recent picture of Atticus doing some school work last week.
He is a handsome little boy. Makes my heart happy to be his momma.
We’re off to Oklahoma this week to see some family and friends for his birthday. He wanted some of his friends to be at his birthday party, so instead of them driving to Arkansas we figured we’d make it easy for everyone and come to them. With summer coming up this will probably be the last trip we make to Oklahoma for a while. Eureka Springs is a tourist town, so lots of people come see us in the spring and summer! Jeremy’s mom is already planning a trip for the first weekend of March. We are looking forward to spring, warmer weather, visitors, and parades…lots of parades!!
*Back to our trip to Oklahoma. I received an email from a friend last night. Her daughter’s birthday party is Saturday and she was in desperate need of a few paper chandeliers to hang from some ceiling fans. As soon as I read the email, everything I needed to do before leaving for Oklahoma flashed in my mind. I just didn’t have the time!! Truth is I actually have plenty of time…how long could it really take to whip up some chandeliers?! Well…it did take me some time, but not as long as I imagined. I am so glad I did it for her. I really love how they turned out and it makes me happy to know I could help her out at the last-minute. She needed 2 chandeliers…Here’s a picture of one.
It’s 11×11. You can’t really tell from this picture, but I used a Krylon Glitter spray and it has a nice sparkle all over it. It turned out so cute!! I got this design from the Silhouette online store. It’s a design by Samantha Walker. I did an internal offset to get the layered effect. It just looked so much better with the contrasting colors. I finished it just in time to get everything packed and ready for our road trip! I’m meeting her Wednesday and she mentioned gluing a few rhinestones on them before the party. I think they’ll be the talk of the party.(besides the birthday girl!) This is a great project for any little princess! I had a lot of fun doing it and look forward to using the image again. Heck…my birthday is in a few weeks…maybe i’ll make some and throw them all around the house. 😉 It seems like I’m being swarmed with birthdays the last few days. I have made so many birthday cards lately and have a list of six more I need to do when we get home from our trip. I guess I can’t complain…I could go buy some cards at Wal-Mart, but I sure do love to make my own!!
I better get some sleep. Thanks for reading guys! Talk to you soon.
Hi everyone! I ordered some of the Silhouette Sketch Pens for my Cameo. If you have a Cameo these are a must get! I love them. They work so much better than I expected them too. For a pack of 8 they are $9.99.
Rumor has it they are coming out with a 24 pack for $20. Correction: They are now available!! I would buy a 24 pack in a heart beat. I better order some stat! 😉 I have a feeling I will use these for every card.
These really are a lot of fun to play around with. The boys think they are really cool.
I was asked to make a Valentines Day card for one of our friends today. This is what I came up with.
Cowboy silhouette and horse are both images from the silhouette online store.
Hope you all have a rootin tootin valentines day too!
See you all soon!
