Happy Thanksgiving everyone!! I hope you all had a safe and joyful holiday with everyone you love. We had a great day today and ate way to much yummy food. We started out going to Jeremys moms house. She lives 1/2 mile from us, so it was nice to have a short drive this year vs. 5 hours last year. She always makes a delicious spread and this year was no different. She made a new cheesecake dessert that was super delicious. After leaving her house we headed to my side of the family. My grandma isn’t doing so well…she has battled cancer for a while now and things aren’t looking so well for her. She looked amazing tonight. Her spirits are high and I’m so glad that we we’re able to make it to dinner. Most of the family was there and the food was awesome. (I love to eat….Thanksgiving is on top of my favorites list.) My step-mom Kim and sisters Chelsea and Lindsea cooked most of the food. It was totally different then what we had at Pam’s house, so it was nice to have a variety. It was so good. I will be hitting Kim up for a few of her recipes!! All in all we had a great day. I’m so glad I had the chance to hang out with my grandma. I really wanted to get some pictures with everyone, but we were all so busy talking that it totally slipped my mind. I enjoy spending time with that side of my family and really should do it more.
We have one more Thanksgiving tomorrow. I’m going to Grannys early to help her get it ready. I’m trying to really help this year, so eventually I can take over. 🙂 That’s exciting and scary to me all in one.
I’m so thankful for so much in my life. I have the best husband and kids that anyone could ever imagine. I love them so much. I have a roof over my head. I am thankful for that every time I take the dogs outside and I’m freezing!! We have great friends and family that I’m thankful we could enjoy lunch/dinner together today. I am so thankful for all our DCC contributors. We are getting better and better everyday and it has so much to do with these ladies. They are so talented and love what they do. I don’t know how we got so lucky finding them, but I know I am grateful for everything they do.
There’s so much more that I could ramble on about…but I’m so tired. I can barely keep my eyes open. Again, Happy Thanksgiving. Thank you to everyone who takes time to read my posts. I am also thankful for you. What are you most thankful for this year? I’d love to know.
Hello all! Did everyone have a good day today? Mine was pretty good. Today was our running day…I always feel great afterwards. I had a chance to hang out with my granny this evening. She is such a hoot. I swear…I wish you could meet her. She’s loud, crazy, and knows how to play a good hand of Skipbo. She’s smart and smart mouthed. 😉 She’s not your average grandma. She’s 72 and gets around like a 50-year-old. When we go shopping, I swear she has more energy than me!
I stayed the night with her on a regular basis when I was younger. I remember sitting on the porch swing and she’d listen to me read. She came to every sporting event I had growing up. I could hear her screaming at me over hundreds of people. She was my biggest fan.
Now that we moved back to Oklahoma, she lives less than a mile away from us. The boys love her. Bonus is staying the night with her tonight and she spoils him rotten. He loves going to grannys house. He’d probably live over there if I let him. Not to mention, she lives across the street from the park!
I’m very thankful they get to spend time with her like I did growing up.
She makes me laugh on a daily basis and I feel grateful to have her around.
Here’s a picture of her and the boys from last December.
She doesn’t have internet and she will never see this post…but I want everyone to know how grateful I am to have such a great grandma. She may drive me nuts at times, but it doesn’t matter. She is still the best grandma I could ever ask for.
See you tomorrow.
What a wonderful Christmas!! I hope you all had a great Christmas and are looking forward to the new year…I know I am! Our guests, GramGram and Uncle Critter, made it to Eureka Springs safely. Luckily the winter storm came a little later than they thought it would, and missed us all together. Our guests left about noon Tuesday and had to take it slow, but made it back to Oklahoma City safely. The boys were a little bummed that we didn’t have a white Christmas. They were ready to play in the snow!! It did however get really cold and Jeremy has done an excellent job at keeping the fire going to keep us warm! (I love him!!) 🙂
Here is a picture of our dinner set up. PawPaw made it a tradition to eat dinner by candle light for the month of December. We haven’t done it all month, but I thought it would be special to do for Christmas. It was very nice and I would love to do this every year.
We had dinner Christmas Eve and it turned out better than I expected. I really enjoyed cooking and was surprised how tasty is was! After dinner was cleaned up we opened some presents, the boys had a great time. Atticus opened up a Play-Doh Magic Swirl Ice Cream Shoppe and said “I have been wanting this for years and years!!” It was so sweet. Bonus opened up what he had asked for the most and was ecstatic…Pop the Pig!!
Here they are in front of the tree! So ready to open their presents. Atticus is on the left and Bonus on the right.
Look at his sweet face. He was so thrilled that GramGram got him Pop the Pig!!
Jeremys mom made the boys these robes. Aren’t they the cutest?! I loved them so much I told her I needed one! They are so soft!! The boys look so cute in them.
Santa came the next morning and the boys got some new Wii games and a few board games. We’ve had fun playing them for the last two days. We were sad that Uncle Critter and GramGram had to leave so soon, but we really enjoyed the time we shared. It really was a great Christmas and I don’t regret spending it here in Eureka Springs one bit. It was so nice staying home and not running around house to house all day trying to see everyone. Instead we stayed home and just spent the day with our family and enjoyed Christmas together!! We loved it and I think this was one of the best Christmas’ so far. We are looking forward to traveling to Oklahoma in a week or so and having Christmas with family and friends, but before we do that, we are meeting Marley and her mom in Tulsa tomorrow so she can come stay with us!! We are so ready to see her and let her open her gifts we got her. We haven’t seen her since Thanksgiving and we miss her like crazy!! She is the coolest 12-year-old I know! Her and the boys get along so well and they LOVE when sissy is here. Keeping our fingers crossed that the roads aren’t icy and we can make the 2 and a half hour drive safely. She will be here until the 5th and then we will head to Oklahoma City and enjoy even more holiday fun. Yay!!
As I sit here in front of the fire with my husband and dog, the boys tucked into their warm bed, I am so grateful for the life I have. We had a great year and I know it’s only getting better. I am truly blessed and I never wanna take a day for granted. Thank you so much to all of you who are reading this blog right now. It really does mean a lot to me. I hope you had a great Christmas and you are enjoying your family in your warm house. Have a safe New Years!!
Thanks again. Steph Shock
P.S. My Cameo is still on track to be here Friday! I can not wait to get it!!! 🙂
